Experienced web developer specializing in PHP & Flash
I have worked freelance within the creative industries in London since 1999.
As an art school graduate, I initially learned my trade as a 'web designer' but have long since settled into a highly technical role
as a PHP and Flash developer. This background positions me perfectly as a bridge between the creative and technical requirements of any project.
I founded
White Interactive in 2004, but I am also available for freelance contracts and in-house consultancy work.
You can email me at
web.contact@whiteinteractive.com, or phone 07968 140046.
Education
BA Hons Fine Art from The Nottingham Trent University, 1996-99
A Levels in Design, Art and Mathematics.
PHP & Web Applications
I have built applications ranging from highly tailored business tools to content management
systems for commercial sites. Recently these have included
zubka.com
(
with Pynk & Fluffy) and
foxtvdvd.co.uk
(
with Greenroom Digital).
I maintain my own
development framework
which I use for my PHP work whenever possible as it allows me to quickly build complex and robust systems.
Although originally conceived in 2004, it has been completely rewritten for PHP 5 and I am constantly expanding and improving it.
I am experienced in building Facebook applications, for which I also maintain a
framework
for rapid development.
Supporting skills include:
- Advanced SQL and good knowledge of MySQL database server;
- Much experience with Apache web server, plus other Unix administration tasks;
- Object Orientated Programming techniques, CVS & code documentation.
Flash & ActionScript
I have been using Flash since version 3 and writing ActionScript for as long as it has existed.
Often I am responsible for integrating a Flash application with a back end, such as in the case of
lemmings.tv.
Most recently I built the
South Park Down and Dirty
Facebook application, developing both the back and front ends including the Flash development.
HTML & Website Building
I built my first website in 1996 using only a plain text editor and Photoshop 3.0.
My HTML and site building skills developed for years along side standards like CSS and XHTML and now
include awareness of issues such as accessibility and code compliance. Years later this skill set forms a
solid base that supports my specialist disciplines. My experience with JavaScript and CSS allows me to
create complex front ends to my web applications using powerful Dynamic HTML and AJAX techniques.
